    Attention privacy fans! It’s time to board up your windows, hide in the basement, pull a condom over your head, do what ever you have to do to protect yourself because your world is about to get rocked. A few months ago at F8, Facebook snuck in a quick mention about opening up public search that went largely under the radar.

    The advent of a Facebook search engine will fundamentally change the web as we know it. It may be frightening to some, but those of us who understand how to use it early on will be handed access to the most powerful online tool the world has ever seen.   • Some Thoughts on Education in Today’s Business World.

    I recently re-read REWORK, one of my favourite business books in the last few years. One of their sections talks about hiring people regardless of their educational background.

    The authors say that you should focus on finding people who show initiative and follow through on the what they start, regardless of educational background. I have to say that I couldn’t agree with them more.

    One of the things that always comes up when I’m talking to a client or a friend about social media is: “how do we measure success in social media?” They want the specifics on know how much they need to put in and how much they’re going to get out. What’s the return on investment? It may seem like a hard question to answer but it’s pretty simple. When it comes to social media, just forget about the numbers.

    Traditional marketers and business people have a hard time with this, understandably. They live in a world where numbers rule. But unfortunately for them, the world of social media isn’t a numbers game. Not to mention, their numbers game is fundamentally flawed.
